About me

I offer one to one confidential counselling sessions that last fifty minutes. Currently I work with adults who are 18 and over. This can be for a fixed period, decided by you, or we can work together indefinitely and end when the time feels right. Sessions happen at the same time and place each week, and I am open to discussing Skype or telephone sessions.

My counselling practice comes from my belief in the unique transformative power that every human being possesses. I provide you with an open space for exploration and creativity. I welcome any distress, confusion or pain you may be experiencing and will sit with you and provide support, reflection and new perspectives while you do whatever you feel you need to do. I also welcome your joy, love and self-acceptance. We will meet in an unjudging space and form a relationship which allows you to access new ways to express yourself and come to terms with what it is to be a human being.

I work from a Gestalt perspective which is a form of therapy focusing on the immediate moment and the relationship as it happens in the counselling room. It allows for creative approaches to the process of therapy and plays with images, thoughts, feelings, emotions, fantasies and ideas. There is nothing ‘wrong’ and nothing ‘bad.’ Gestalt therapy can allow for direct challenge which we can use to explore difficult areas, if and when it feels right for you to do so.

I welcome a variety of different ways of working with what you are bringing to therapy. This can include talking, movement, working with objects, writing, painting, drawing or any other form of artistic expression you enjoy. A counselling relationship can happen between the two of us sitting and talking each session or it can be different each time, with no judgement on the choices you make. Experimentation and play are a part of the work we can do together.

My past experience has included working in Higher Education supporting students with a wide range of physical, mental health and learning conditions to complete their studies successfully. Below you will find some more factual information about me, my education and my particular interests. Do get in touch, by email initially, with any questions you may have and we can arrange a first meeting and begin our work. I look forward to meeting you.
